A Bad Move For Bush

It looks like Bush just apologized for the events of hurricane Katrina, taking all of the blame. I'm glad he's being the only mature politician I know, but taking the blame for something you just didn't do isn't good. Why? Some people will even further believe that it was his fault, and now they have proof. This will definetly knock the Republican party down a lot during the next elections.

Now I could go on about who's fault it really is, but the list is too big. It would include presidents from 1920 on, and all of the louisiana government. So maybe Bush should have taken some of the blame for cutting the funding, but he should have never accepted all of the blame.

Why? It makes him look bad. It makes the Republicans look bad. The Republicans will have a harder time during elections. And for the next five or so years, the Democrats will use this to their advantage, and it will most likely work.

Sorry Bush, but the hurricane was not your fault, but hurting the Republican party now is. You've let the "Michael Moorons" get to you. Come on Bush, I want you to be the tough conservative you were in your first few years, not the "maybe the libs are right" guy.

So basically you are saying that Bush should view himself as above reproach. One of the problems that alot of people have with Bush is that he usually doesn't take responsibility for mistakes. This much was evident in the 2004 debates when he refused to give a straight answer to a woman who questioned him if he thinks he's made any mistakes in the Iraq conflict. Yes, there was breakdown and mistakes at all levels of government, including the mayor of NOLA and the governer of LA and especially (this is where Bush comes in) FEMA. That's where Bush is most responsible. He allowed a cabinet level official directly under him to hire an underqualified, resume-padding horse show manager into a very important post.

I agree that FEMA did awfull, but Bush took ALL of the blame, not just his. And that is just not fair, because this was mostly a failure for the local and state government.

But where does the buck stop, so to speak?

Cody... I admit it looks bad. But it's a political ploy. The American people are a forgiving people. Clinton finally apologized and the American people forgave him for originally lying in Court. They seem to forgive anything by anyone if an apology is made.

I agree with Tara and Walter inasmuch as it was a great post. I understand how you see it the way you do, Cody. But as far as being too polite to liberals, I can't help it. It's my nature. Besides, Drew wasn't rude; he was only stating what he believes, as is his right. I think you two must have been looking at some of the other posts published by Cody, and then posted your comment here.
Surely, you weren't upset about Drew's comment? I can't help but agree with his comment on Brown.

I really enjoy how you ignore all the mistakes made just because they were the fault of what you support. EVERYONE makes mistakes. Have you thought of the fact that Democrats may give Bush a little more credit now for actually admitting that some of the mistakes were under his control? He didn't say that it was his fault there was a hurricane. He said that ALL levels of government, including where he stands, were at fault. Admitting fault is a fairly honorable thing to do. But I'm glad you've failed to see that and are giving the liberals you hate an idea for more accusations.

Tara and Walter: Define liberal. And don't give me any of those HANNITY and colmes, Bill O'Rielly talking points. Is anyone that doesn't drink the Republican War Machine's koolaid a liberal?

The political landscape in the country isn't black and white as you see it. The majority of America is right smack in the middle. It's the 10% on the far left AND far right that seem to make the most noise and the least amount of sense.

Just a correction, ALL levels of government were at fault for the mistakes made. Not at fault for the hurricane itself.

I just need to correct a statement I made earlier in the comments. I was partially wrong in blaming Bush entirely for Michael "Horse Whisperer" Brown's promotion to FEMA head. Brown was confirmed on as Deputy Fema director by a Senate committee (including several Democrats). This calls into question serious oversight issues with our elected officials. It would seem that while they will scrutinize a Supreme Court nomininee for days on end, if they are only giving 45 minutes attention to a post with a high level of security and responsibliltiy...without doing a background check and verifying his resume... there is a problem!

read my article again, I said Bush deserves SOME of the blame. I love how liberals ignore all of my statments just because the don't support Conservatism.

I'm sorry telling the God honest truth isn't good enough for you. I'd never be a loony liberal, or a Bush basher, or a Michael Mooron. I guess being a lying hipocrite just isn't my thing.

Responsibility has been accepted and it is our duty as Americans to hold criminal proceedings as soon as possible. First of course comes impeachment. Then as we are a forgiving people we have to determine what amount of prison time these crooks deserve. Fines may also be levied to help offset the costs of reconstruction.

I guess you STILL haven't realized that it was mainly the local and state governments fault. But what could I expect from a regular Bushhater?
