No. 2 Man no More

U.S. Special Forces killed Al Qaeda's No. 2 terror mastermind in Iraq, Defense Department officials say.
Abu Azzam, who was believed to have been in charge of the financing of terrorist cells in the war-torn country, was killed during a raid in Baghdad Sunday. Azzam is thought to be the top deputy to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, Iraq's most wanted terrorist.

Wow, this is very good news. Al-Qaeda's 2nd highest guy is now killed. It looks like we're making a lot of progress in Iraq. If we had pulled out, this rat would still be walking around.

But wait a minute, a member of Al-Qaeda in Iraq? It looks like the people who told me there was no connection are dead wrong, and now I've got even more proof.

Anyways, everyone should be very happy now that terrorism is a much smaller threat. In fact the U.S military deserves a big thank you from everyone.

Thanks guys!

I haven't, but also I haven't forget about the thosands of lives that will be saved now that the guy who helped set up these car bomb attacks (and other things) is dead.

Of course Al Qaeda is in Iraq. When you invade a country, depose it's hardline leader, eliminate the government and military, and then have no real plans on how to finish the job, that creates what, some may call a POWER VACUUM. We opened the door... we let them in. The longer the US stays there the more they have to fight for.

And that's a bad thing? Us being there is luring them out from their hiding.

And even if Al-Qaeda wasn't there because of a connection, there are PLENTY of other FACTS that PROVE there is a CONNECTION.

They're coming out of their hiding because they hate us and are getting more and more eager to show it. Don't forget about the hate.

I'm defending a terrorist? What did I say in defense of a terrorist?

They aren't coming out of hiding to see what's going on. They're coming out because they hate us and WAR is a decent time for them to display that. We have not "lured" them out of anywhere, we have forced them to display their true feelings. I am not defending them, I am saying that it isn't because of our magical military expertise that these people are coming out of hiding.

And by the way the Iraqis do not hate us. The soldiers say they do not, an Iraqi who was interviewed says he does not. CNN says they do. Who should you believe here?

Does is matter HOW they're coming out? they're coming out! That's good because however you want to put it, we can kill them easier because we don't have to find them first.

    Good post.

They are concentrating on Iraq because we are there. If we had to fight them (and we would have, with or without Iraq) I would much rather have to fight them over there than on U.S. soil, which may come to pass anyway. But the more we can get rid of over there, the better. Some might say that's an odd position for a Christian to hold. After all, I am advocating killing people. Yes... I sure am. It's called self defense. They target our women and children. They cut off people's heads and hold up the severed head for all the world to see. They aren't even soldiers in the true sense of the word because they disguise themselves, sneak around, and kill civilians with joyous glee. And when we take them off of the battlefield and put them in a prison where they get fed better than our own troops do and are living better in prison than they did out of it, something is definitely wrong. Some prisoners have been released, only to show up trying to kill more people. I don't understand why we are being so darn nice to thugs and murderers! This position of some has absolutely no rational defense.

The only way we can win this war is if we pull out of the UN. I'm totally against the Geneva Convention 100%, the oil for food scandle was just digusting, and they're all hipocritical commies. We need to pull out from them.

Quit complaining you moron. Bush will not be impeached. Get over it.

But since I've talked to countless people who want him impeahed, and one who want to give him the death penalty. And I'll tell you what, they all did a REALLY poor job saying WHY he should get impeached.

So I'm really waiting for your explanation, or are you just completly incapable of contemplating on a subject as simple as deciding whether to believe a lying liberal or not.

All true. You're pretty smart, especially for your age. Wonder what you're going to be like 10 or 15 years from now. Kudos!

Cody, your remarks regarding the Geneva Convention really worries me. Is this the face of the new Republican party? It seems to be flirting with fascism. Take time to read the Geneva Convention before you suggest we just pull out.

Do you seriously feel that the U.S. should have the right to murder, torture and rape prisoners of war and enemy combatants?

  • At 29/9/05 2:16 PM, Blogger Cody O'Connor said…

Maybe they shouldn't get that (although they deserve it) we don't need to be treating the BETTER THAN THE SOLDIERS STATIONED THERE! These people are obviously not afraid of dying so we need to do something else anyways. I don't know what but they deserve some punishment I'll tell you that right now.

Now stop making these huge leaps guys. I'm not a crazy savage moron, okay. If you don't know exactly what I mean, instead of making your own assumptions, just ask. I NEVER said we should torture our prisoners. I DID say that we are treating them too nice and deserve some kind of punishment.

  • At 29/9/05 2:22 PM, Blogger Unknown said…

How about trying all those prisoners in Gitmo and putting them away. It doesn't make much sense to just hold them there indefinitely without actual charges. I'm all for punishing those who truly deserve it, still, ignoring the Geneva Convention and stooping to their level makes us just as evil and bad as them.

We do give trials to the people that we are not 100% sure if they're terrorists or not. But if we capture someone who cuts the throught of one of our soldiers, chances are they won't get a trail, which is reasonable.

"I'm all for punishing those who truly deserve it, still, ignoring the Geneva Convention and stooping to their level makes us just as evil and bad as them."

you ever heard the saying "nice guys finish last"? Now I'm not saying we should torture the guys, but punishment is necessary. And I still stand by what I say about the UN and the Geneva Conventions, do you think American prisoners would get treated nice because of the GC? I don't think so.

It's okay Darksaturos: Trying to reason with the more extreme liberals can confuse anyone.

You are right: The Geneva Convention does not apply to Terrorists because Terrorists do not qualify as a legitimate Armed Force sanctioned by the Government of a Country. Why should that be so hard for some people to understand? Not only do some want them to be given the rights of the Geneva Convention, they also want them to be tried in Civilian Courtrooms, instead of by the Military, as if they had the same rights as American Citizens! I have to ask myself, "whose side are these people really on?"

Still, where's the justice in just pinning them up indefinitely? I don't really care whether they have a military tribunal or civilian court case. The fact is, something must be done with them. Right? Or should we be like the Vietnamese and just hold enemy combatants in camps for good.

Let me ask you this. What would Jesus do? Seriously... Gayle it's hard for me to understand how you can seperate your faith from your politics, as they would seem to be in conflict with each other. Jesus told us to love our enemy, not imprison them in concentration camps without trial nor reason. I'm not saying to just let them go, but atleast administer the justice that we supposedly pride ourselves in.

I'm sorry to break it to you, but Jesus is just wrong this time. We can't love the people that want to cut our heads off. Simple as that. If we want to live in a peaceful world, then the only way to do that is to ELIMINATE EVERY SINGLE ISLAMIC TERRORIST.

Your logic is completely flawed. Saddam never had ties to Al-Queada, but our invasion of Iraq has made it the recruiting center for Al-Quaeda. Thus the reason for Al-Queda's presence in Iraq. And if our goal was to, as you say, "ELIMINATE EVERY SINGLE ISLAMIC TERRORIST," then we are failing miserably.

The only thing that's failing miserably is your factless argument.

Eliminating Islamic terrorism is going to take a long time, but we are making good progress. But I'm sure you know the war inside out don't you, someone says something you don't like and all of a sudden you're the head of the CIA. I want some facts to back up your arguments.

There is absolutely no dishonesty on this blog, and if this "Bushhater" extremist were even half the man Cody is, he wouldn't even consider that possibility, even if Cody's views don't agree with his. Cody absolutely believes everything he posts, and so do I. For anyone to call him a liar, or dishonest (same thing) is absolutely childish, uninformed, and ignorant, because anyone with even half of his little gray cells left can tell honesty when they see it. When extremists can't find any other way to change your mind to their point of view, then they start with the accusations that you are lying, or you are stupid. All it does is prove the ignorance and childishness of the attacker. No communication can be made at all with people of that ilk, which is why I deleted all of his comments from my blogs and will continue to do so.
